A Composer. A Guitarist. A Meeting. How They Created an Album.

It’s interesting to see how a piece of music for solo guitar comes to life from a chance encounter. A conversation between guitarist Antoine Guerrero and composer Herman Schamp about “How Do the Stars Sound?”, a cycle of short works for guitar that they have just released on a beautiful solo classical guitar album. They met at a gathering of guitarists and luthiers in Granada (GGG), and since then they have kept up a “correspondence made of compositions”. They talk about how a melody is born, about essence, the relationship between poetry and verse in this music, and the freedom of playing and interpreting... They also explain how they grouped the pieces into seasons and why they are also releasing the album on vinyl. Antoine also plays some of the works from this cycle live. I hope you enjoy it.
