DESCRIPTION & CONTENTS
Santos Hernández is undoubtedly Spain’s most creative and most important guitar luthier from the first half of the twentieth century.
It was Santos who in 1912, while working as a foreman at Manuel Ramírez’s workshop, built the famous guitar that would travel the world with Andrés Segovia for years to come. Santos’ instruments were also adopted by other great guitarists of his day, like Regino Sainz de la Maza, Luise Walker, Sabicas, Ramón Montoya, Niño Ricardo, Celedonio Romero, Abel Carlevaro…
Through his loving hands, the beautiful sound attained by Antonio de Torres was brought into the twentieth century.
-The Santos Hernandez 1939 guitar belonging to our MaderaGuitarras collection (LINK: Santos Hernandez 1939 guitar) appears in this wonderful book on page 80 referring to the last fan bracing system that Santos Hernandez used and that was later taken by Marcelo Barbero with small variations in the struts placements as well as in the length, thickness and shape of them-
