Classical Guitar by Lorenzo Masini – Torres-Inspired Model

At Madera, we firmly believe that the most important aspect of any guitar is its sound—and this instrument by Lorenzo Masini is a perfect example of that principle. Its voice is beautiful, rich, and remarkably well-balanced, with excellent projection. Achieving such a refined sound is no easy task, especially from such a young guitar maker, which speaks to Lorenzo’s exceptional promise and maturity as a craftsman.

This guitar is deeply rooted in the traditional Spanish school of guitar making, taking direct inspiration from the work of Antonio de Torres. The result is an instrument that feels timeless, both in sound and design. Its rosette is classic, And the headstock design is something we particularly like, elegant and full of character. Every detail reflects a deep respect for tradition and a sophisticated aesthetic sensibility.

The choice of woods is also worth noting. The top, in particular, is of outstanding quality and plays a key role in the instrument’s tonal depth, clarity and responsiveness. The sound palette is rich in timbral variety and color, offering the player a wide expressive range. This allows for nuanced interpretation and dynamic control across the full register.

In the video featuring this guitar, you can see how easily the Granada-born guitarist José María Huertas connects with the instrument. He expresses himself freely and comfortably, drawing out its subtle tonal shades and enjoying its exceptional playability and responsiveness to every musical gesture.

This guitar is a refined synthesis of tradition, craftsmanship, and beauty. An instrument with a sound that speaks for itself.

Born in 2000 in Sarzana, a small town in Liguria, Lorenzo’s passion for music, and later for lutherie, began early. He played the transverse flute for 13 years, immersing himself in a musical environment from a young age.

While attending the music high school in La Spezia, he was first introduced to the art of lutherie. Captivated by the craft, he enrolled at the Civic School of Lutherie in Milan under the guidance of M° Pietro Forlani. There, he received hands-on training and deepened his understanding of the field.

Guided by renowned teachers such as M° Roberto De Miranda, M° Silvia Zanchi, M° Ivan Bruna, and M° Bob Van de Kerckhove, Lorenzo graduated in 2023. He completed an internship the following year with M° Marco Gilioli, where he further refined his skills in instrument construction and precision craftsmanship.

Since 2024, he has been building classical guitars in his workshop in Fosdinovo, a picturesque village in Lunigiana. Inspired by the great masters, especially Antonio de Torres, his guitars follow traditional methods, offering a soft, well-balanced tone with excellent playability and projection.
